The AICS Office in Maputo promotes gender equality, women’s empowerment and the rights of persons with disabilities through support to existing legislation, awareness-raising campaigns and concrete initiatives aimed at ensuring greater access to education, employment and healthcare services.

The Office also adopts a “twin-track” approach, combining interventions specifically dedicated to women with the systematic integration of the gender dimension across sectoral programmes. Among the most significant examples is the Mulheres no Sustentaprogramme, which promotes sustainable agricultural development by enhancing the role of women in rural communities.

Particular importance is also given to the INCLU.DE – Inclusion for Development project, which aims to improve the living conditions of persons with disabilities in Mozambique by promoting the effective implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and fostering a more inclusive and equitable society.
