VaMozDIGITAL!
The VaMozDIGITAL! initiative was launched in response to the growing interest in digital transformation by the European Union and the World Bank, with Italy playing a key role since 1993. Over the past decade, Italy has invested in digital infrastructure and cyber-security, supporting Mozambique's Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education in the transition to an information society.
Since 2020, the European Commission has partnered with Member States, creating Team Europe Initiatives such as ‘e-Youth’, which focuses on education, employment and empowerment. VaMozDIGITAL! is a joint initiative to contribute to youth growth in the context of the Multi-Annual Indicative Plan 2021-2027.
With a total budget of EUR 10 million, including EUR 7.5 million for AICS, the aim is to develop two tech hubs in the Central and Northern regions of Mozambique, promoting an enabling environment for digital transformation. Specific objectives include the creation of micro and small enterprises and the inclusion of youth, women and persons with disabilities. AICS will facilitate training for the private sector and stimulate digital entrepreneurship through events such as hackathons. The initiative aims to address various pillars of digital transformation, promoting sustainable and inclusive growth.
